We had an exciting week with a few highlights which include a skype interview with Mr. Josh Funk, the
author of It’s Not Jack and the Beanstalk. The book won the most votes for our March Book Madness
and we have Mr. Alex to thank for organising this. Students also had a session with Ms. Julie and Mrs.
Pathan who came to talk about expected behaviours during the home stretch. Only 6 more weeks to
go here and on to our new campus next school year. Exciting time!

Language Arts
Series book reading continued this week where students focused on author’s crafts such as how
the author used specific words or literary language to paint a vivid picture in the reader’s head. Students
were given a few examples and then they looked for the crafts in their own series books. Students
continued writing their opinion letter for a book of their choice.

Math
We did some revision this week and students focussed on telling time to the nearest five minutes.
Science
Our new life cycle unit started this week. Students watched a time-lapse video of a seed growing
and drew a life cycle of a plant diagram with a partner. Students also watched a recording of a butterfly
coming out of its cocoon. After these videos, some wondering cropped up and these wondering have
been recorded so students can investigate them in this unit. We also let go of a couple of butterflies
after they hatched from their cocoon right here outside our common area.
