9 - 13 April

2ER is preparing for a new student who will join us next week. Brooklyn hails from the U.S. and she will start next week. Our last mini academy is next week. If you have not signed up yet, please email our room mum, Ms. Azura to let her know.

Earth Week starts next week. If you have any photos of your family caught in the act of helping the environment by refusing plastic straws, re-using plastic bags, cleaning up some trash, etc., do email them to me.

Language Arts

Series book study continued with analysing the character in the same series but with a different book. Students looked at how the character traits remain the same throughout the series but at times the character might surprise the readers with an act that is our of their character and readers start asking questions such as why did the character do/say/think that. Students had practise in this when they did their book club.

Continuing with our our opinion writing this week, students learned the different parts of the opinion letter namely date, greeting, body, closing and signature. This week students planned their letter using the popplet app and wrote their opinion piece with reasons and evidence in the body of their letter. Using their touchcast app, they shared their opinion on seesaw.

Math

This week's math, students focussed on odd and even numbers and how to prove that the number is odd or even. Students came up with the rule of odd and even numbers and then applied that to bigger odd and even numbers.

Social Studies

This week we compared and contrasted Chinese New Year and Western New Year in a brain frame. Students looked at the similarities and differences between these 2 celebrations.
